4. Gold Star Distribution Pet Foods — Rodent Contamination (December 2025)
On December 26, 2025, Gold Star Distribution recalled ALL FDA-regulated products from their storage facility — including multiple pet food brands — after inspectors found rodent excreta, rodent urine, and bird droppings in storage areas.
The contamination affected pet foods distributed in Minnesota, Indiana, and North Dakota. The FDA warned that products stored under these conditions carry a significant risk of Salmonella and Leptospira bacteria.
