2. Viva Raw Chicken for Cats — Salmonella & Listeria (August 2025)
Viva Raw LLC of Charlotte, NC voluntarily recalled two lots of dog and cat food on August 25, 2025. The affected cat products include Viva Chicken for Cats and Viva Pure Chicken (Lot 21975).
Testing found contamination with both Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes — two bacteria that can cause severe illness in cats AND humans who handle the food.
The products were sold directly to consumers nationwide and to retailers in 7 states: NY, IL, SC, FL, KS, CA, and AZ.
