In October 2025, Foodynamics recalled freeze-dried treats sold under several brand names including BellePepper Cats (Chicken Heart Slices) and Raw Dog Barkery (Whole Chicken Hearts) due to potential Salmonella contamination.

Freeze-dried raw treats are marketed as “natural” and “healthy,” but the FDA warns that raw products carry a higher risk of bacterial contamination. Even treats that look and smell fine can harbor dangerous bacteria.
