7. Ground Cinnamon — Lead Contamination (Updated 2025-2026)
The FDA has issued an ongoing public health alert for multiple ground cinnamon products found to contain elevated levels of lead. The alert has been updated several times, most recently in November 2025, as more products are added to the list.
Lead exposure is especially dangerous for children. The FDA recommends checking brand and lot numbers against the current list on FDA.gov before using any ground cinnamon purchased in 2024 or 2025.
