6. Cheese Products — Class I Recall (Listeria, January 2026)
The FDA upgraded a recall of cheese products from The Ambriola Company to Class I — the highest danger level — after testing confirmed Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Affected products include Locatelli Grated Pecorino Romano and other cheeses distributed nationwide.
Class I means there is a “reasonable probability that exposure to the product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.” Listeria is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
