2. Tejocote Root Supplements — Toxic Oleander Substitution
The FDA issued a warning in March 2026 about certain “Tejocote Root” weight loss supplements that were actually substituted with toxic yellow oleander — a plant that can cause life-threatening heart problems.
These products are often sold online and at small retail shops as natural weight loss aids. The FDA warns that they can cause irregular heartbeat, seizures, and death.
